Chefs for Chefs are working with our client on the outskirts of Oldham, a lively village gastro pub serving a mixture of traditional and modern dishes, seeking to appoint a chef to lead the small team of 3.

The pub serves food 7 days a week and the latest food times are 8pm, meaning an average working day of 9 or 10 hours.

You will have full control over meus and costings, as well as the rota for the kitchen, working closely with the management team to develop the food offering and help drive the business forward.

This is an ideal opportunity for a sous or second chef from a similar environment to take the next step in their career, working in a pleasant environment with a friendly team. The salary on offer is £23k with tips on top.

Candidate Role

  • Oversee the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Develop menus and specials, innkeeping with the style of the property
  • Work with the senior team to improve the food turnover
  • Train the junior members of the team
  • Develop supplier relationships, ensuring consistent quality of produce
  • Ensure the food hygiene protocols are maintained

 

Candidate Specification

  • Sous chef level as a minimum
  • Pub background would be an advantage
  • A friendly, approachable character
  • Be up to date with food hygiene and allergen legislation
  • Have excellent time keeping, personal and man management skills
