Head Chef-Village Pub

We are delighted to be working alongside our energetic and passionate client to recruit for a head chef for their stunning village pub/restaurant. The site is a beautifully finished country inn with a superb blend of traditional and contemporary décor. Situated in a village near Wakefield, the establishment has gained much deserved recognition for delivering consistent, quality cooking and service in comfortable surroundings.

 

The site currently focuses on producing modern British pub cuisine with elements of traditional influence. There is a strong emphasis on using quality seasonal ingredients and locally sourced where possible. With a strong food led trade, the brigade can cater for around 100 covers over a Friday and Saturday period and up to 150 on Sunday’s. The business currently operates 7 days per week on a split shift basis.

 

The competitive salary also comes with a tips package. There is also a bonus-based profit share in place alongside the attractive package.

Candidate Role

  • Assume overall charge and responsibility of designated sections throughout the kitchen
  • Liaise with the senior team to develop the food business as a whole
  • uphold strict legislation relating to environmental health requirements
  • Participate in daily food preparation and service
  • Offer input on seasonally inspired menus whilst sourcing best quality ingredients
  • Train and develop junior members of the kitchen brigade
  • Ensure kitchen fridges are hygienic and adopt stock rotation systems
  • This is a hands on role, daily presence on the main line is essential

Candidate Specification

  • Candidates must have experience working to a good level consistently
  • Ideally have held head chef level, however, a strong sous chef looking for first appointment may be considered
  • Strong leadership and management skills are essential
  • Be able to communicate fluently and precisely
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have a keen eye for fine detail
