Description

We are currently working alongside a beautiful Family run country inn based in the village of Ravenstonedale who are seeking an eager Junior Sous Chef to join their brigade.

The quirky finished pub has 16 bedrooms each individually decorated and finished to a high standard, the property has also won numerous awards for the food offering with a newly appointed head chef that joined this year with a strong 2AA Rosette background.

The Junior Sous will have a fantastic opportunity to work alongside the head chef to mentor and train the 6-man brigade, everyone in the team has a great personality all wanting to push this thriving business to greater success.

The style of food changes seasonally offering traditional British dishes served to a high standard and they have also utilized the local Cumbrian suppliers who they have built a strong relationship with working alongside over the years.

The average working week is around 4 ½ days over 7 with one day having an early finish which take the hours to around the 45 mark. There is potential accommodation available at the site. 

 

Candidate Role

  • Assist in the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Assume responsibility of sections throughout the kitchen
  • Develop junior members of the team
  • Plan and develop the menus with the team
  • Liaise with the head chef and senior team to develop the business as a whole
  • Uphold the high standards of hygiene required by the environmental health office
  • Assume responsibility of the kitchen during the head chef absence
  • can keep on track with the management of stock and wastage control
  • Motivate the junior members of the brigade, ensuring they are ready for service

 

Candidate Specification

  • Fresh food background is essential
  • Must have good management skills
  • Must be creative and have a good eye for detail
  • Local applicants preferred as there is no live in
  • Sous chef experience preferred but a strong CDP or Junior sous would be considered
  • Must have a stable working history 
  • Have a keen eye for detail 
  • Be positive and passionate about the industry as a whole
  • Be motivated to develop your own skills
