Chefs for Chefs are currently working with our clients in Totnes, Devon. A multi outlet venue seeking to recruit an experienced junior sous chef to join the team.

The estate is working hard to promote a positive food culture that connects them with the abundance of ethically produced food and drink producers. Their ethos is based on the local terroir and they are keen for their food to capture the unique surroundings.

They are looking for a junior sous chef who is flexible and willing to fit in with the food ethos. This is a busy venue especially in the summer months so someone who can work in a high pressure, high volume environment is preferred. The salary is circa £27k.

There may be the potential for temporary accommodation, however due to the rural location of the property it would be a big benefit to have your own transport.

Candidate Role

  • Assist the head chef and senior team with the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Develop and train junior members of the team
  • Assist to develop menus, in keeping with the ethos and style of the property
  • Ensure consistent quality in all food produced
  • Maintain and oversee various sections of the kitchen
  • Assist to effectively manage stock and minimise waste

 

 

Candidate Specification

  • Fresh food background is essential
  • Be confident in all areas and sections
  • Have a flexible and approachable manner
  • Be calm and level headed under pressure
  • Basic food hygiene as a minimum
  • Be up to date with industry trends and technique
  • Have an interest in local, sustainable cooking
