Chefs for Chefs are excited to be working alongside our client in Carlisle, seeking a dynamic, hard working and forward thinking Pastry chef to join the brigade pushing hard towards 3 AA rosettes and a Michelin star.

The head chef has a proven background at the highest level and the food is precise, contemporary and elegant. They serve 22 covers in the fine dining restaurant as well as 30 covers in a more informal bar setting.

The kitchen takes much of its produce from the stunning walled garden and greenhouses which are looked after by a designated head gardener.

The head chef is working towards implementing a 4-day working week as soon as they are fully staffed, making a work life balance very achievable here. Salaries are dependent on experience but are up to £30k, alongside a quarterly tips package currently worth around £450 per quarter.

This is an excellent opportunity for a chef to showcase their skills, working alongside some of the best talent and ingredients in the north. Unfortunately, there is currently no accommodation available for staff, so we are seeking chefs who are happy to relocate or are commutable from Carlisle.

Candidate Role

·Oversee the pastry section

·Develop menus in keeping with the theme and surroundings

·Ensure consistent quality in all of your work

·Manage stock levels and ensure wastage is minimal

·Work with the senior chefs to improve your skills and benefit the business

·Help to train and develop the junior members of the team

Candidate Specification

·3 Rosette or 1 star experience is required, although strong 2 Rosette may be considered

·Passion, the desire to succeed and improve is a must

·Be confident, hard working and mature

·Be up to date with current cooking techniques and ingredients 

·Have a positive approach to your work

·Have excellent time keeping and personal skills

·A friendly and approachable manner
