Chefs for Chefs are delighted to be working with our client just south of Sheffield, on the peak district border. This smart, refurbished gastro pub is looking for a sous chef to join the team and push forward under the guidance of the head chef as well as the director of the business.

Everything is made from scratch on site, including breads, ice cream and cured meats. They have their own smoker and regularly cook over coal and wood. The menu is mix of pub classics and some more modern, contemporary dishes, providing a good mix. Presentation is clean and unfussy, and the flavours are bold.

The salary for this role is circa £28-30k, plus tips and live in can also be arranged for the right candidate.

Candidate Role

  • Work with the head chef in the daily running of the kitchen
  • Assume full control in the head chef’s absence
  • Train and develop junior members of the team
  • Contribute to menu development and new dishes
  • Ensure consistent quality in all food produced
  • Ensure the kitchen’s food safety and hygiene protocols are maintained
  • Assist to make sure financial targets are met

Candidate Specification

  • Must come from a fresh food background
  • Must be confident in all sections of the kitchen
  • Have excellent time keeping, personal and man management skills
  • Be up to date with current industry trends and techniques
  • Be passionate about passing on knowledge
  • Have a calm approach
