Description

I am currently on the lookout for a strong Sous Chef to join a fresh food café based in tourist museum on the outskirts of Darlington towards Barnard castle. The property is a popular tourist attraction in the area that holds a busy fresh for Café, the food offering is a pleasing mix of both traditional British and continental dishes and utilising local suppliers for guests to enjoy.

The average working day is roughly 8am -4pm or 9am-5pm and spans 5 over 7 days, there is the very rare occasion when there is an evening shift.

The salary for this role is up to £19,000 per annum working of a 37 hour working week contract.

 

Candidate Role

  • Assist in the daily running of the kitchen
  • Assume responsibility for the running of the kitchen in the absence of the head chef
  • Uphold dish specifications requirements
  • Report directly to the head chef
  • Assist in food preparation and service
  • Maintain a hygienic and safe working environment
  • Help develop junior members of the team
  • Minimise wastage of ingredients
  • Participate in menu development, costings etc
  • Ensure stock rotation procedures are adhered to

Candidate Specification

  • Must have several years working in quality, fresh food sites
  • Experience at sous chef level is preferred. However, a strong senior CDP or junior sous may be considered
  • Must have excellent communication and management skills
  • Be tidy and efficient worker
  • Experience managing various kitchen sections would be preferred
  • Have a keen eye for fine detail
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Have the ability and drive to develop your career and skill set
