Description

We are very pleased to be working alongside a beautiful family run hotel on the outskirts of Skipton who are looking to recruit for a Sous Chef to join this award-winning hotel.

The establishment is a quality food hotel set within a beautiful countryside area utilizing local suppliers in serving traditional dishes to a high standard.

A typical day would see the kitchen brigade catering a busy service which spans over breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dining in the 110-cover restaurant, they also have a strong conference and banqueting element to this establishment.

 

There is a large brigade in the team with the plan to take on an additional two roles due to a surge in trade. The kitchen is well equipped with quality industrial equipment and plenty of space to conduct daily preparation and service. With a strong emphasis on utilizing locally produced ingredients, with a recently appointed New head chef in play the menus have been uplifted and he is producing seasonally inspired menus.

 

The average working week is around 40-48 hours paid at an hourly rate of £28k, 5 days over 7 working straight shifts 2pm-10pm with the very occasionally split depending on business.

Candidate Role

  • Assist the head chef with the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Oversee all areas and sections, providing support where needed
  • Deputise for the head chef in their absence
  • Train and develop the junior members of the team
  • Work on menus, providing input into dish development and menu ideas
  • Lead the team during service alongside the head chef
  • Ensure the kitchen’s food safety and hygiene protocols are maintained

Candidate Specification

  • Sous chef experience at a fresh food level
  • Hotel background preferred
  • Excellent time keeping, personal and man management skills
  • Passion for food and the service industry
  • Be up to date with latest industry trends
  • Experience in all sections of the kitchen
  • A cool, calm and level headed approach to work
