Sous Chef-Food Led Pub

Chefs for chefs are delighted to be working alongside our client near Holmfirth, Huddersfield.

We are looking for a sous chef to join their small team delivering good quality, well-cooked traditional pub dishes in their village pub.

The pay for this role is circa £25k, working on average 45-50 hours per week based on mixed shifts. All food is made in house, with some traditional and some more modern dishes.

This is a great opportunity to join a team that works hard together and for each other, there is a real family feel about the place. Own transport would be an advantage for this role, as it is in a semi-rural location.

Candidate Role

  • Assist the head chef with the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Deputise for the head chef in his absence
  • Train and develop the junior members of the team
  • Assist to ensure financial targets are met
  • Help to control waste through effective stock management
  • Develop new ideas and dishes, in keeping with the pub and its customers
  • Work alongside the head chef to improve where possible
  • Uphold the kitchen’s food safety and hygiene protocols

Candidate Specification

  • Fresh food background
  • Ideally from a pub background, although not required
  • Must have excellent time keeping and personal skills
  • Have a calm and approachable character
  • Be driven to succeed as a chef
  • Have worked to junior sous chef level or above in a similar environment
