Chefs for Chefs are currently working alongside our client in Northampton, a family run thriving tapas restaurant, seeking to appoint a new sous chef to help drive the business forward.

Assisting the head chef running a team of 10 in the recently refurbished, 140 cover restaurant, the dishes are authentic and rely on the quality of ingredients. Flavours are bold and well defined; presentation is clean and unfussy. This is a central site and although does not come with any accommodation, is easily commutable from the local area. They are closed on Sundays and staff are doing in the region of 45 hours per week.

This is a great chance for somebody to make a great name for themselves in the local area working for an established business with a great team in place.

Candidate Role

  • Assume responsibility for the day to day running of the kitchen in the absence of the head chef
  • Train, develop and mentor junior staff members
  • Work alongside the senior management team driving the business forward
  • Work on menus with the head chef, using seasonal and authentic ingredients
  • Ensure consistent quality in all food produced
  • Uphold and maintain the kitchen’s excellent food hygiene protocols
  • Help to ensure the financial targets are met


Candidate Specification

  • Sous chef experience or a very strong junior sous chef
  • Fresh food background a must
  • Spanish/tapas background preferred
  • Be confident and capable on all sections of the kitchen
  • Be financially aware and able to work to budget
  • Have excellent man management skills
  • Have an approachable and friendly character
  • Be up to date with current techniques and legislation
