Chefs for chefs are delighted to be working with our clients on the outskirts of Yeovil, seeking a string sous chef with fresh food experience to join the kitchen team in their 30 bedroom, independently owned and ran hotel.

The hotel has won many awards for the food, which is a mixture of modern dishes and traditional classics.

Weddings are popular in the summer months, as is the restaurant, which has made a name for itself in the local area as an elegant, contemporary space for elegant dining.

Temporary accommodation can be arranged for the right applicant, as well as a basic salary of £26k per annum, with tips package on top of that.

This is a great and rare chance to join a team that works well together and thoroughly enjoys their work, staff retention here is superb, thanks mainly to the approach of the management tea, towards looking after key staff members.

Candidate Role

  • Assist the head chef with the day to day running of the kitchen
  • Oversee all areas and sections, providing support where needed
  • Deputise for the head chef in their absence
  • Train and develop the junior members of the team
  • Work on menus, providing input into dish development and menu ideas
  • Lead the team during service alongside the head chef
  • Ensure the kitchen’s food safety and hygiene protocols are maintained


Candidate Specification

  • Sous chef experience at a fresh food level
  • Hotel background preferred
  • Excellent time keeping, personal and man management skills
  • Passion for food and the service industry
  • Be up to date with latest industry trends
  • Experience in all sections of the kitchen
  • A cool, calm and level headed approach to work
